The gilt verge movement is adorned with intricate engravings and pierced balance bridge, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship. The movement is in good working order, signed by the maker, Stokes of London, and numbered 17351.

The highlight of this timepiece is the polychrome enamel dial, which boasts a pastoral scene surrounding the chapter ring. The scene is executed in vibrant colors and is in fine condition, apart from a scratch and a hairline running from the edge towards the center through the 4 o'clock position, as well as a scratch around the edge at 4 o'clock. The dial is securely pinned to the movement, despite missing one foot from the dial false plate.

The inner case is made of silver and hallmarked for London 1778. It exhibits some light dents and a split in the silver under the rim between 2 and 5 o'clock positions. However, the hinge is intact, and the bezel closes properly. The high dome bull's eye crystal has light scratches but no chips.

The outer case is also made of silver, matching the hallmarks of the inner case. It displays some light dents on the bezel and back, but the hinge, catch, and closure function correctly. The catch button is slightly flattened but still works.

Overall, this late 18th-century verge watch with a polychrome enamel dial is an exceptional timepiece with a captivating design and impressive horological craftsmanship. Despite some minor flaws, it remains a delightful piece for any collector or enthusiast.
