Up for sale is a remarkable mid 19th Century Swiss cylinder watch encased in fine gold and adorned with split pearls. The watch features an unusual gilt three-quarter plate keywind movement with a resting barrel. Its sector shaped cock has a polished steel regulator and a coqueret set with a garnet endstone. The watch also boasts a plain three-arm gilt balance with a blue steel spiral hairspring and a polished steel cylinder with a steel escape wheel.

The beauty of this timepiece extends to its exquisite design. The gold dial is meticulously engine turned and adorned with Roman numerals and minute markings set with split pearls. The gold hands add an elegant touch. The watch is housed in a stunning open-face gold case, which is entirely encrusted with split pearls. The front bezel is equipped with a button in the pendant for easy opening. The back of the case is covered in split pearls arranged in a radiating pattern, with a cluster of pearls below the pendant. The pearls range in size from 0.7mm to 3.5mm, with small pearls filling the spaces between the larger ones. The front bezel is set with a row of large split pearls, each surrounded by more split pearls. Both the gold pendant and the pearl set gold bow are also adorned with split pearls. The watch comes with a matching gold pin and bar, featuring a heart-shaped center and a spring clip, all set with graduated split pearls. Completing the ensemble is a large gold oval key with an engine turned center. The watch is presented in a fitted red morocco covered case, marked "No. 5050," from the renowned retailer Desoutter of Hanover Street, London.
