This early London verge watch is a great find, especially with its calendar dial. The gilt verge movement is in good condition and runs smoothly, with a beautifully engraved large winged balance cock. The dial is made of silver champleve and features a central disk signed "Kipling, LONDON" along with a calendar window below. The hands are ornate and gilt, adding further elegance to the watch. The inner case bears a rubbed maker's mark and a serial number, showing signs of wear but overall in decent condition. The outer case is unmarked, with some damage to the catch button and a replacement steel catch spring. Despite these minor flaws, the hinge and bezel still function properly. With its unique features and historical value, this watch is a true gem. William Kipling, the renowned London watchmaker, is known to have been active between 1705 and 1737, further enhancing the significance of this timepiece.
