This is an exquisite early 19th century English verge pocket watch. It features a beautiful polychrome enamel dial with a stunning riverside scene depicting a fisherman by an arched bridge. The dial also has Arabic numerals and gilt hands. The watch has a full plate fire gilt movement with a fusee and chain. The movement has a pierced and engraved masked cock, a silver regulator disc, and a plain three-arm steel balance with a blue steel spiral hairspring. The watch is housed in matching silver pair cases, with the inner case engraved "Sam Taylor" and the outer case adorned with a faded monogram. The maker's mark "WL" can be found below a stag on the outer case. This pocket watch is a true masterpiece of craftsmanship and artistry from the 19th century.
