This is a magnificent 18th Century English verge pocket watch with a stunning polychrome enamel hunting scene on the central chapter of the dial. The silver pair cases are beautifully crafted and perfectly match the style of the watch. The full plate fire gilt movement is equipped with turned pillars and a pierced and engraved cock. The silver regulator disc adds a touch of elegance to the watch. The plain three arm steel balance with the blue steel spiral hairspring ensures the watch keeps accurate time. The white enamel dial is offset by the beautiful polychrome enamel scene depicting hounds chasing a stag. The gilt beetle and poker hands complete the watch's timeless charm. The makers mark "TC" can be found on the silver pendant and bow. The watch is in excellent condition and was made by John Wontner. He was a well-known maker of the time, who also signed his watches with his name reversed - Jno Rentnow. This watch truly embodies the beauty and sophistication of 18th-century craftsmanship. The diameter of the watch is 54 mm, and it has a depth of 16 mm. It is hallmarked London 1779.
