This is a beautiful 18th century French dumb quarter repeating cylinder watch that features a full plate gilt fusee movement. The bridge cock is finely pierced and engraved and has a garnet endstone. The plain three-arm gilt balance has a blue steel spiral hairspring, and the silver regulator dial has a blue steel indicator. The cylinder is polished steel and the escape wheel is large brass. The watch is wound through the signed white enamel dial, which has Roman and Arabic numerals. The signature is also engraved on the dial plate edge. The watch has a fine three colour gold consular case that is set with diamonds. The back of the case features a scene of a couple in a formal garden that is framed with an oval diamond set border. The two colour gold bezel has a row of diamonds and is opened by a small concealed pin at the edge. The watch is in excellent overall condition, apart from a little crazing at the lower edge of the dial. This watch also has an early use of jewelling to the escape wheel pivots in a continental watch. The mainspring is scratched with the name and date "Lanoy - Mars 1774". This watch is signed by Lechopie a Paris and is circa 1774. The watch has a diameter of 39 mm.
