This is a beautiful 18th Century French verge watch, featuring a stunning chased and engraved gold consular case. The watch has a full plate gilt fusee movement with a finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with a steel coqueret. It also has a plain three-arm gilt balance with a blue steel spiral hairspring. The silver regulator dial includes a blue steel indicator, and the watch has pentagonal baluster pillars.
The white enamel dial is wound through and includes Roman and Arabic numerals, as well as decorative pierced gold hands. The back of the 18-carat gold consular case is engraved with flags behind a drum and cannon. The maker's mark "G & L" is also present below a crescent.
Overall, this is a fantastic example of a gold 18th Century French pocket watch that is in excellent condition.
