This impressive Swiss verge watch features a gilt case adorned with intricate enamel decoration on the back. The movement is a gilt verge with a beautifully engraved and pierced balance bridge and four round pillars. It is in good original condition and runs well.
The dial of the watch is a white enamel dial, which is in good condition overall with just a small chip on the edge near 6 o'clock. The dial is complemented by fancy gilt hands.
The gilt case of the watch is particularly eye-catching, with enamel decoration on the back that showcases a classically dressed warrior holding a shield. The enamel plaque is in good condition, with no chips, although there are some light scratches and hairlines, mainly visible on the sky. The metalwork of the case is also in good condition, with bright gilding on the outer surfaces and some tarnishing on the inside. The hinges and catch of the case are functioning well, and the bezel snaps shut securely. The crystal set bezel is missing one crystal on the front, and no crystals are missing from the border on the back. The watch is topped with a high dome crystal that is in excellent condition.
This watch features a typical late 18th-century Continental movement and is most likely of Swiss origin, although it could potentially be from France. Overall, this timepiece is a stunning example of the craftsmanship and artistry of its era.
