GOLD DUPLEX WITH DECORATIVE GOLD DIAL – 1825

This is an early 19th Century English duplex watch with a stunning four colour gold dial, housed in a beautiful gold open face case. The watch features a full plate gilt keywind fusee movement, complete with a dust cover for protection. It also has Harrison's maintaining power, which ensures accurate timekeeping. The movement is decorated with an engraved cock and a diamond endstone, as well as a polished steel regulator and a small silver sector index on the plate. The watch has a plain three arm steel balance with a blue steel spiral hairspring and a duplex escapement with large brass escape wheel. The pivots are fitted with endstones for added stability. The dial is an exquisite piece of artwork, adorned with three colour applied gold decoration, featuring applied polished gold Roman numerals, a blue steel seconds hand, and gold hands. The case of the watch is made of decorative 18 carat gold, with a faded engine turned back. The middle, bezels, pendant, and bow are all intricately chased and engraved, bearing the maker's mark "GB".
