This is a rare early 19th Century English cylinder watch with a stunning two-color gold dial. The watch is housed in an exquisite engine turned gold case. The movement is a full plate gilt keywind fusee, which is securely fixed in the case using three blue steel dog screws. The watch features an engraved cock with a large garnet endstone that can be seen through the pierced cuvette. The balance wheel is a plain three-arm polished steel with a blue steel spiral hairspring, and a silver regulator is located on the beautifully engraved gilt plate. The cylinder is made of polished steel and includes a large brass escape wheel. The gold dial is intricately designed, with a matted ground and applied gold decoration at the center. The dial also showcases applied gold Arabic numerals and elegant serpentine blue steel hands. The 18 carat open face case is beautifully adorned with an engine-turned pattern and has a ribbed middle. The watch is wound through the signed and numbered gilt cuvette, which is pierced to reveal the table of the cock. The maker's mark, "LC," is also present. This watch is a true work of art and a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of its time.
