This is an exquisite antique watch from the late 18th century, featuring pearls set in gold and enamel. The watch has a later fitted keywind gilt bar movement with a suspended going barrel. It also has a plain cock with a polished steel regulator, a plain three arm gilt balance with a blue steel spiral hairspring, and a polished steel cylinder with a steel escape wheel. The watch is wound through a beautiful white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and pierced gold hands. The gold consular case is decorated with a row of split pearls around the bezels. The back of the case is translucent dark blue enamel over an engine turned ground and features a stunning polychrome scene of a couple sitting in a garden. The watch is numbered with a rectangular gold and enamel pendant. Made by an anonymous Swiss maker around 1800, the watch has a diameter of 49mm and is a true masterpiece of horology.
