For sale is a remarkable verge escapement watch, housed in silver pair cases. This timepiece features a regulator-style dial, commonly referred to as a doctor's watch, with a central seconds hand and a stop work mechanism.

The gilt fusee movement is meticulously crafted, adorned with an engraved and pierced balance cock, four round pillars, and a large silver regulator disk. The movement bears the signature of Chas. Hallam, with the serial number 7213. It is currently running smoothly, and the stop lever functions as intended.

The white enamel dial is signed and in good condition, with subsidiary hour and center seconds subdials. The outer chapter ring elegantly displays the minutes. There are some hairline cracks on the dial, one extending from 6 to 11, and a shorter one stemming from 6. Gilt hands add to the overall charm of the piece.

The inner case is constructed of silver and carries London hallmarks dating it to 1793. The maker's mark, unfortunately, has worn away. The hinge has been repaired but remains functional, and the bezel securely closes. A high dome crystal complements the aesthetics. The original bow and stem are intact. Notably, the back of the inner case is intricately engraved with the name and date of its previous owner, J S COLE in 1817.

An outer silver case, also bearing London hallmarks matching the inner case, protects the watch. On the back, the monogram JSC, mirroring the initials on the inner case, has been beautifully engraved. The silver of the outer case is in excellent condition. The hinge and catch are functional, allowing the case to close securely. However, the catch button is absent.
