Here is a description of an early 19th Century English rack lever pocket watch which is housed in silver pair cases. The watch features a full plate gilt keywind fusee movement with a plain gilt dust cover. The cock is chased and engraved with the word "Patent" inscribed on the foot, and there is a diamond endstone as well as a blue steel Bosley regulator. The plain three arm steel balance has a blue steel spiral hairspring, and the escapement is an English rack lever with adjustable slides to the lever pivots and a large thirty tooth escape wheel. The off white enamel dial has Roman numerals and is complemented by gilt hands. This antique watch is fitted in matching silver pair cases which are hallmarked Birmingham 1839 and have a silver oval pendant and bow. The maker's mark on the watch is "VR", and it is signed by John Parr Liverpool. This pocket watch dates back to circa 1810 and has a diameter of 58 mm.
