Step into the world of exquisite craftsmanship with the Polychrome French verge watch, a remarkable timepiece that beautifully encapsulates the elegance and artistry of the late 18th century. Crafted around 1790 by the renowned Le Roy of Paris, this watch is a testament to the meticulous detail and innovation characteristic of its era. The watch boasts a stunningly painted dial featuring an idyllic lakeside scene, framed by an intricate decorative border that draws the eye. Despite its age, the dial remains in impressive condition, adorned with only two light hairlines, and is complemented by elegant gilt hands that enhance its refined aesthetic. The watch's case is a unique blend of gilt and horn or marine shell, offering a striking visual appeal. While the gilt bezels, stem, and bow exhibit some wear, the horn back remains intact, free from cracks or missing pieces, preserving the watch's overall integrity. The inset gilt balance bridge on the back, a nod to the ornate designs of early 18th-century French watches, adds an additional layer of historical intrigue. The high dome crystal is clear, and the bezel closes securely, with a clever silver decorative ring concealing any gap between the movement and the case when open. This remarkable timepiece is housed in a fitted black and gilt case, maintaining its excellent condition and offering a glimpse into the luxurious craftsmanship of its time.

This Paris verge watch features a beautifully painted dial and a unique case. The gilt verge movement is in good condition and running well, with a signed Le Roy, A PARIS seal and a numbered 1804 imprint. The dial is a highlight, with a lovely lakeside scene surrounded by a decorative border. There are only two light hairlines on the dial, and the fancy gilt hands add a touch of elegance. The case is striking, with a combination of gilt and horn (or marine shell) material. The gilt bezels, stem, and bow show wear to the gilding, but the horn back is in good condition with no cracks or missing pieces. The inset gilt balance bridge on the back adds an ornate touch. The high dome crystal is clear, and the bezel snaps shut nicely. There is a slight gap between the movement and the case when the bezel is open, but this is cleverly hidden by a silver decorative ring fitted to the inside of the bezel. The ornamental gilt balance bridge embedded in the back is older than the rest of the watch and is characteristic of French watches from the early 18th century. The watch comes with a fitted black and gilt case in excellent condition.
