This exquisite timepiece is a French verge watch from the early 19th Century. It boasts several unique features, including a calendar and seconds display. The watch is housed in a silver drum-shaped case, adding to its elegance.

The movement of the watch is a full plate gilt fusee, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship of the time. It features a beautifully pierced and engraved bridge cock with a steel coqueret. The balance wheel is a plain three-arm gilt balance with a blue steel spiral hairspring.

One of the standout features of this watch is the silver regulator dial with a blue steel indicator. This adds a touch of luxury to the overall design. The dial itself is white enamel with Arabic numerals and subsidiary dials for seconds, date, and day in French. The hands are gilt with blue steel accents, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the watch.

The open face case is particularly interesting, as it is shaped like a drum. It is made of plain silver and has a sizable top plate, which complements the large dial plate. The movement is secured within the case with two screws. The back of the case bears the maker's mark "J - B" over "M" in a diamond, along with French hallmarks.

This early 19th Century French verge watch with a calendar and seconds is a true masterpiece of horological craftsmanship. Its unique design and intricate details make it a highly desirable collector's item.
